Basic course in Maritime Medicine

A 40 hours introductory course to maritime medicine is held twice a year for practitioners and doctors under postgraduate education. All medical doctors serving in the Royal Norwegian Navy are obliged to participate at the course.

The course also enables the participants to:

Seek approval by Norway for the issuance of medical certificates to offshore workers on the Norwegian continental shelf  in accordance with Norwegian “Regulations No. 1780 of 20th December 2010 regarding health requirements for persons working on installations in petroleum activities offshore

Seek approval by Norway for the issuance of medical certificates to sea fearer’s In accordance with Norwegian Regulations of 5 June 2014 No. 805: “Medical examination of employees on Norwegian ships and mobile offshore units”   

 

Our qualifying course is composed of two parts:

Distant learning: estimated work of 19,5 hours. A pre-test must be passed prior to attending part 2.  

Taught course: 40 hours attendance (5 days). A final course test must be passed. (Application for approval must be sent individually to the County Governor of Rogaland for Petroleum doctors and to NMA for Sea fearer’s doctors.)

3. After some days you will receive a mail with necessary material for home work

4. Submit pre-test by mail

5. Confirmation of passes pre-test will be sent to your e mail

6. Attendance on taught course
